Throwing a bowl.

A short demo in my home studio of my process for throwing a bowl. I stand at the wheel in order to ease the strain on my body compared to sitting down at the wheel for long periods. I use soft clay because stiff clay requires more strength to manipulate, but allowing less sensitive control. The piece is made quickly to take advantage of the clay softness but not so long that it becomes weak and collapses. I learned this technique during my apprenticeship at Marshall Pottery in Texas in the 1970"s. Using this method I can throw a bowl in less than a minute.
